I am more than an address

There’s certain places that when we think about them, we know exactly who lives there, if I told you the ZIP Code 90210 and you were born within a certain era. You would know exactly where that was. Young rich kids running around Beverly Hills shops everywhere living the great life! But even those people they’re more than just a ZIP Code they’re human beings. What if I said 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. would you know who that is? Most people do even though that’s where the president lives and many presidents have lived once again they’re more than just an address. It’s the same here in Henderson, Kentucky, when you get the address, 804 Clay St. people look up to see who you are, they know that address why they know it. I’m not sure. Maybe they went there themselves maybe they know somebody that did maybe they’ve heard something bad about that address. Maybe they’ve heard something good I’m not sure but it does get people’s attention. But this address it is way more than an address. It’s a home, for those that have lost theirs. It’s a sanctuary for those seeking help from the Lord. It is a refuge for those battling with addiction. It’s a place of brotherhood where one guy can look at another and know exactly what he’s gone through. From the outside looking in, we want to believe we know who they are, we want to believe that we know what they’ve been through. But the truth is none of us do, we may have passed them on the street. We may have even worked with them at times. But obviously we don’t know everything. We just know what we’ve heard about the address. We just know what we may have seen in passing. They are brothers, they are sons, they are husbands, they are best friends, and they are men. But then there’s the things that we wanna say like their drug addicts, or those are criminals over there. Those things may have been true, but that’s the past. Do you want people to always remember you by your past? Don’t you think it’s time that we start looking at who’s in front of us today? None of us want to relive all the negative things in our lives. But when you live at this address, that’s something that you’re faced with, having to relive every negative thing that you’ve ever done. I can’t stand that part of the life, I see the person that’s here today. You should see the person that’s here today. these are men trying to make better decisions, trying to do better for themselves. As a community, we should raise them up and be proud of the fact that they’re asking for assistance, proud of the fact that they’re there and not on the street doing something. They are absolutel by y more than an address, and I’ll be honest with you. it’s a great address to be. There’s a sense of community and fellowship that goes a long way.
